Behind the Song--Dance With Me

What's the story behind the song, Dance With Me? Our sappy romance, of course! :D I love being married to James. He has such a tender, romantic heart. He's the kind of person who will wake me up early to go outside and see how the fog is swirling up in little tendrils from the ground and the lawn furniture and the deck, or to listen to the birds singing. I've only seen him cry because he's happy. He's told me that it's made it hard to write songs, because most song writers like to write about sad things, and his life is so full of happiness.

So this is a happy song that he wrote. I did very little to contribute to this one except to be the person that he loves so much. I have videos on my phones of impromptu love songs that he has sung to me just in the moment. He didn't sit down and write them--he just picks up his guitar and sings his heart, tears streaming down his cheeks. It's amazing and humbling to experience that kind of love.

All day long he tells me how much he loves me. When we're apart, he sends me texts. Hearts, gifs, "I love you and I miss you." He makes up pet names. We have a little contest to see how many pet names we can come up with. Some of them are hilarious. Pookie, Looney Tunes. Cherry Pie, Strudel Doodle, Sparkly Chip. Papooskie, Chicken Nugget. Those are just the ones we've called in each other in the last week. It's fun, and it's funny, and it always keeps us connected and creative in our efforts to show each other how much we love each other.

He's a blessing to me in so many ways. I am so thankful that God brought my sweet Strudel Doodle into my life. I love him so much!
